Welcome to the Children Adapting to Stress and Adversity (CASA) Lab website!
Under the direction of Dr. Catherine DeCarlo Santiago, we are committed to research on how children and families respond to stress and trauma as well as how community interventions can improve functioning and promote resilience. In partnership with school and community leaders, administrators, clinicians, and parents, we conduct school- and community-based intervention research. Our work examines effectiveness, implementation, and sustainability of these interventions among underserved populations. We are interested in individual and family adaptation to the accumulation of stress and trauma. In addition, we focus on cultural and family factors in relation to psychopathology and mental health intervention.
We are affiliated with the Clinical Psychology Graduate Program in the Department of Psychology at Loyola University Chicago.
We hope this website will be helpful in learning more about our team and the work we do.
Please let us know if you’d like to get involved, and thanks for visiting our website!
