Coalition for Immigrant Mental Health 2nd Annual Convening

Graduate student Yvita Bustos presented the Evaluation of the “You are Not Alone” Project at the Coalition for Immigrant Mental Health Annual Convening, hosted at DePaul University. This project was a collaboration between the Children Adapting to Stress and Adversity (CASA) Lab, Lurie Children’s Hospital, the Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR), the Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition (ICTC) and the Refugee Immigrant Children (RIC) Ad Hoc Committee.

Lab members Ana Guzman, Diana Diaconu, Nerissa Fernandez, and Sonia Ramirez presented their independent research at the Weekend of Excellence through Loyola's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (LUROP).
- Ana's project was titled "The Effects of Discrimination, Family Economic Stress, and Family Immigration Stress on Hispanic Youth's Mental Health."
- Diana's project was titled "Parent-Child Conflict and Depressive Symptoms in Middle School Aged Latino Children."
- Nerissa's project was titled "The Impact of Parental Trauma Exposure and Child Trauma Exposure on Child Emotional and Behavioral Symptom Severity."
- Sonia's project was titled "Emotion Regulation in Children of Mexican-origin Immigrant Families: Reporter Discrepancies and Longitudinal Impact on Child Depressive Symptoms."

- Kathleen's project was titled "Language Use and Executive Function in Low-Income Latino Youth."
- Lauren's project was titled "Evaluating Daily Anxious Mood States and Peer Stress among Low-Income Latino Adolescents."
- Andrea's project was titled "Perceived Discrimination in Relation to Anxiety and Daily Mood among Latino Adolescents."
